What makes one company’s product different from that of their competitors?

Synthetic paper is already an incredibly niche offering. High level, it offers more durability than standard pulp paper, allowing for harsher environmental factors and general ‘wear and tear’.

Manufacturing costs reflect this, as well, so do not expect to see printers using synthetics for newspaper or magazine pages! Instead, the next time you are holding a menu, a map, tying a wristband, or a tag, see if you can feel the difference and, more importantly, the benefits of a synthetic alternative to paper.

And yet, even amongst our synthetic competition, Polyart is truly unique.

The concept of polyart was revolutionary at its beginnings, and is still unique among its competitors: putting a clay coating on top of a plastic sheet, so that any printer can print using similar settings and inks that he would use on coated paper : at the end of the day, he’s printing on a clay coating and not a synthetic surface.

The chemistry though has kept up with the changes in presses and inks systems; standard Polyart (for offset and UV Inkjet applications) special clay coating feels like high quality coated pulp paper, accurately reproducing pre-press work, and allowing for fast drying times – 3-4 times faster than some of our top competition! Further, our manufacturing process results in no grain direction, allowing for optimal layouts, reduced waste, and superior folding often without the need to score pre-fold. We’re also APR (Association of Plastic Recyclers) as HDPE Recyclable (Class 2), meaning our film can recycle back into itself or something similar, whereas much of our synthetic competition can’t make this sustainability claim.

With evolving printing technologies, Polyart has been fast to expand into digital offerings. We now feature a HP Indigo certified Polyart and a  ‘Laser’ series for dry toner. Both offer the same water and tear resistance and excellent print reproduction of standard Polyart and are used for many similar applications, such as menus, guides, posters, wristbands, badges, tags and labels.

More recently we’ve expanded our product portfolio with coated paper options, like our Fluolux fluorescent paper line and Fiberskin, which is an innovative 100% biodegradable coated paper that’s resistant to weather and humidity, making it an ideal substrate for plant tags, outdoor signage and other seasonal applications.
